    The Winter Empty The Winter

Post  JuliaAlpha Mon Aug 20, 2012 5:51 pm

Julia walked through the woods not making a sound. She was alone hunting. She was watching a doe. The first doe the pack has seen in days. It was a harsh winter. The pack hasn't seen in large game in weeks. The lived off rabbits, also took some two legs chickens. She ready her self to make the kill. She jumped grabbing at the does neck spilling its blood all over her white belly and white snow. she held it there till it died. She dragged the large kill back to her pack and laid it by the tree in front of the river that had ice over. She ripped off a leg and moved over for her pack to join in on the kill.

A few knots to the east, out of the woods and in the mountainous area walks Jade. At this point in his life, he was nothing more than a rogue, running from the past that haunted his every step he took. Living out in the wild with no pack was no easy task. He had to learn a little bit of everything that pack members specialize in. He never was a great hunter, but he learned to ration on only a few rabbits a week; If he was lucky he may come across a dead deer. He learned to heal and care for himself as every rogue did. He protected himself from attackers, often coming out injured badly due to his lack of size and numbers. He was a true lone wolf, searching for a pack to call his own. He walked carefully along the base of the mountainous area as he noticed a forest of to his west about 1 to 2 Klicks. It was at that moment that he thought he could find shelter in this forested wonderland, if there was any wonderful things to be had in it. He heads his way towards the forest through the clearing, making his way into the great unknown.

She soon finished off her meal and looked around her pack. The numbers have grown in the past few weeks. She would have to send at less two hunters out this time. She would go out her self leaving the pack in the care of her beta Sage. She soon got up and told two of her hunters to head out for the plains while she went to the woods to look for how much small game she could get for the pups. She stretched her sore body. She sighed and padded off with a nod to her beta. All the past events went through her head, 3 pack members have left to make a pack of their own, one being a wolf she liked dearly. She frowned then snapped her head up, she had to hunt not think of meaningless things. She then walked closer to the woods with her A game face on.

Slowly, Jade began to make his way across the plains towards this forest that he had spotted from the mountains. He was still rationing on the little food he could find and/or get, and because of this he was hungry and not to full strength. Just ahead in his path just over half way to the forest, he spotted a small herd of deer, "perfect" he would think to himself as he began to sneak his way around the back and towards them unnoticed. His eyes were fixed on a what would seem to be one of the smaller doe, and he crept closer and closer, and when he was in ranged, he used every little bit of strength he had to lunge forward and onto the doe. His eyes turned a slight red as he hit his mark, sinking his long razor-like teeth into the doe's neck while he clinged on with his razor like claws. Suddenly, just before the deer's life was taken, he loses his grip on his left claws, shifting his body weight too far and swinging his around near the front of the helpless creature, Fangs ripping the neck as they too shifted; This was a bad spot for Jade but it did open up the wound allowing for the neck to bleed out. The deer ran, Jade now clinging onto the front of it. Suddenly the deer's life came to an end as it had bleed out from the neck, leaving a long line of blood behind. It fell in a forwards direction with its momentum, Jade didn't have a chance to move quick enough. The full weight of the dead deer came slamming down on Jade's already weak body, knocking him unconscious upon impact.

Jade lay still, seemingly lifeless along side the deer's truely lifeless and bloody body, leaving a long trail of blood behind.

Julia slowly walked in the woods till the smell of fresh blood hit her nose. She turned her head walking to it. She thought to herself "What could that blood be, I know my hunters aren't this way. I also haven't seen any packs this way. Did someone, or something get hurt" She ready herself as she walked to the blood. She soon was the trail of blood and followed it. She soon saw the small doe on the ground, but it was on top of something. She walked closer to see what it was. There she saw a smaller male wolf knocked out cold. She pulled the deer off the wolf and looked to see if he had any wounds. She only saw a few cuts. She looked around to see if he had a pack. She guessed he didn't have one. She grabbed so herbs and chewed them making them into a paste, she then spit the herbs on some of the cuts to close the wounds. She then waited for the male wolf to get up.

Jade, laying there motionless had some visions while he was out. Things about the past, about where he came from, about what he really wanted. It was a while before he showed any signs of life. He finally started to fade back in from the darkness, slowly and painfully as he felt every muscle in his small body aching from being tense, and his bones sore from the crushing blow of being fallen atop. His vision was a little blurry at first as he slowly came back to life, but this too would would slowly regain itself. As he begins to regain his sight, he thinks to himself 'i should be dead'. He slowly picks his head up and looks over, and what he sees nearly makes him jump out of his fur; a female wolf. He tries to get up and move away but finds himself too weak to move much, and ends up collapsing back to the ground. He had no choice but to lay there in the presence of another wolf, too weak to defend himself on top of being hungry and having no pack. Jade was, a shy one you could say, as he lay there silently.

Julia waited for the wolf to wake up. She hopped he was nice. She turned to see the male moving. She looked down at him. "He must be sore" she thought. She waited for him to say something as she looked at him getting up.

Still on his side, Jade was too weak at the moment to support his own weight. He couldn't remember much, nor did he know why he couldn't get up. "what's going on" he muttered in a soft and breathy voice as he lay on the ground next to the dead deer and a pool of blood that oozed its way from it.

She smiled. "Well I found all this blood and followed it. I found the deer on top of you. It must of knocked you out." she looked at him. "Are you okay?" She wanted to make sure he was alright, but by the looks of it she could guess no.

Jade started to regain some energy as he lay motionless. He then went on to picking himself up off the ground to observe himself. Blood was everywhere around him from the deer that he had previously killed, including on Jade's fur. He looked at himself to see that there was nothing more than a few cuts and bruises, but he mostly was in pain from the impact.
Jade was never really that good with other wolves, so in his silence, he limped over to the dead deer, not forgetting what his intentions were, and took one bite out of it. After he took that he said in a nervous but self-humiliated voice "i'm fine" and he slowly attempted to limp away, towards the forest.

She watched him limp off and walked off next to him, she acted like a pup really being that she was young but she was big for her age. She thought it must be from her other side. She looked at him. "You don't seem okay." she paused. "I'm Julia by the way. You can come over to my pack, we have a med, she can see what else she can do, I put some herbs on your cuts." she seemed to talk like she never got to talk.

Jade stopped for a moment as he heard the wolf that he now knows by Julia speak to him. Already having enough trouble walking on his own, as well as humiliated about what happened to him, he would become hesitant in his speech as if he were threatened by its very own existence. "a pack.. it sounds.. nice but.. i don't know." he tried to continue to limp his way to somewhere he wasn't sure of, but his efforts seemed futile as his stamina slowly gave way with every step of his. His steps became heavier by the moment, and it didn't take long before his back legs gave way. He would collapse on the back end, and seeing that he couldn't go any further, he gave in to gravity and let his front side fall. "i just need to rest a while." he said a bit breathy.

She watched the male wolf. "well if you stay here alone you will be killed. Not to many nice wolves around here." She smiled at him. "You know everyone can use help sometime, you shouldn't feel bad about it, us wolves was made to live in packs after all." she smiled at him and talked on and on like a pup would.

Jade laid silently on the ground, listening to the Julia talk herself away like a pup. He thought to himself about the pack life, about the pack that he use to run with. It was only at this thought that he let out a sigh as he lay helplessly on the ground. He closed his eyes and he muttered "that would be nice, to see a pack once again. But i can't go any further as my energy has been spent."

Jade saw the excitement in the young female named Julia as she ran over to pick him up. He was skeptical about this, as he didn't really liked being helped much from others, but knew that he had no choice this time. Jade remained silent as Julia would proceed to pick him up (as stated by JuliaAlpha), his eyes half open and slightly clouded. He let a faint yelp as he was picked up, he was not hurt though by it. Jade's fur was medium length, and very soft, and it lay gentle against Julia's back as she would carry him.

After Julia made sure he was on her back okay she padded slowly off to the camp where her pack lived. She didn't like how silent it was walking so she started to asking questions. "So I never got your name sir." She looked up at him waiting for him to reply. She didn't want to bug him to much. She was already feeling a bit hyper now that she could be away from the pack a bit. She knew it would soon change when she got back home. She looked around seeing all the trees without leaves and her breath in the air and hated it, she was more of a summer type of wolf.

Jade lay resting on julia's back, each others fur transferring their body heat as she trotted along with them. The winter was cold and harsh against the lands, the leaves on trees were no longer present. Jade heard Julia's question presented to him and would reply "Jade is my name." Jade kept his eyes closed as he took the winter weather in, as he loved the cold against his fur.

It wasn't the greatest ride, being on the back of a young wolf full of energy, in the beginning of the cold winter, and going through uneven terrain. He thought to himself at least he would stay warm, given that he was a warm wolf, and with their fur colliding together. In his own weakened voice he would mutter "yes, it's just me. It's always been just me."

Julia smirked and looked up at him. "Well Gramps if you ever need a place to stay you are welcome to come stay with us." She looked back ahead seeing her rock and tree. When she got to the tree where she loved to rest she lowered herself so Jade can get off on his own so she wouldn't put the wolf into to much pain.

Upon their arrive, Jade used the little strength he had to drop himself off of her back. With the aid of the tree, he was able to find a resting spot near it and lay himself. At least he was in a safe resting area, he hoped. He figured that if all would go to plan, he would rest up here, and continue on his way just like he did with every other wolf that he came across. It was normal for Jade, to come and go as he had no home to go back to. But for now, he just lay his weak frame near the tree he was brought to, and rested himself in the bitter cold of the winter that lurked around them.

After Jade was off her back she went and got a few members to go get the kill he made for his self so it wouldn't so to waste. She then looked around for her stash of herbs. She grabbed a few and smashed them on a rock into a paste. She then moved the smashed herbs onto a leaf and gave it to Jade. "This will help." she said softly.

The injured wolf creature that was laid to rest near the female's pack seemed hesitant to take the herbal paste that was offered to him, not use to accepting an sort of assistance due to being a rogue for most of his life. His gaze narrowed on the prepared item for a few moments, then tilting upwards to the female whom had offered it to him and remarked with a slight struggle "why are you helping me?"
